In keeping with a philosophy of simplicity and the desire to remain as unobstrusive as possible, all photographs were taken using ambient light with fully manual analog film cameras. Until quite recently, a Pentax K1000 proved its ruggedness along with Pentax 50/2.0 and Tamron 28-200/3.6-4.5 lenses. More recent photos were shot using a Leica R6 with Leica 28/2.8, 60/2.8, and 80-200/4.0 lenses. Those familiar with this equipment know that this means no autofocus, no program modes, and no automatic bracketing. Fuji slide film including Velvia 50, Provia 100 and Provia 400 was used throughout. Slides were scanned at a generic photo lab without any manual correction or subsequent software manipulation.
